About the Source
The records in this database were procured from a much bigger list of records transcribed by the blog “Genealogia Dominicana“. Only the individuals showing their nationality as “Cuban” were extracted for publication in this database.
Many Cubans were exiled to the Dominican Republic, and especially Puerto Plata, during the “Ten Year War (1868 – 1878)” Many went there at the behest of influential Dominicans. For example, in this list, one can see that a Professor by the name of Antonio Benitez was living in a property owned by Gregorio Luperon, Vice President and future 20th President of the Dominican Republic.
The 1871 census shows 197 people whose nationality is listed as “Cuban.” For the year 1875, the number increases dramatically to 1167 individuals. And lastly, the year 1879 shows a decrease to only 300 individuals, potentially suggesting that many Cubans returned to Cuba after the war.

Saludos y bendiciones mi Bisabuela nació en Santo Domingo, República Dominicana el 5/07/1898.
Inicialmente ella fue inscrita en República Dominicana con el nombre de: Isabel Luisa Apolinar de la Caridad Guix Carrey,los padres la trageron para Cuba a la edad de 3 años y vivio aquí hasta su fallecimiento.
Sus padres se llamaban

Madre:Juana Carrey
